David Taylor-Klaus, MCC/ICF, kindly introduced my presentation at Converge2025, and inspired a wide range of comments.
So, I would like to summarize my propositions below for reference.
As AI coaches are expected to surpass human coaches in every technical aspect defined by current coaching standards in the foreseeable future , I believe the role of human coaches will evolve into that of navigators—companions who support clients as they rediscover, expand, and transform themselves through their evolving relationships with AI. Building a co-creative partnership with such a non-human entity calls for a reexamination of our relationship with intelligence, agency, and meaning.
To realize this shift, we must confront and transcend our unconscious bias—namely, the belief in human superiority over other beings, commonly known as anthropocentrism. The vision articulated in The Embodied Mind—to “undo or at least reduce our self-centered ways of being, especially as they shape and are shaped by science and technology” —offers a compelling foundation for this work.
